Over time, I’ve learned something important: my productivity and emotional wellness improve when my workspace feels peaceful.
Because I work from a laptop, I can set up anywhere. Most days, I’m at my desk. However, when I need a change of scenery, I shift to a little setup in my kitchen. That’s the space in the photo I’ve shared.
In that spot, I’ve placed a few calming items—things I love. As a result, when I need a reset, I just glance over. Instantly, I feel grounded and calm. It’s a small thing, but it helps me come back to center.
Here’s a way to think about it: imagine an operating room. Everything has a place. The tools are organized. The space is clean.
Of course, I’m not suggesting you sit with only a pen, notebook, and laptop. But clutter doesn’t help. My space is clear and simple, with a few “Heather Touches” to make it feel warm and personal.
So, if you’ve been feeling scattered or stuck, take a look around.
Do you see piles of paper?
Dishes nearby?
Laundry creeping into your workspace?
An “in tray” that looks more like a junk pile?
If yes, it might be time for a reset.
Your physical space affects your mental energy.
A cluttered room often leads to a cluttered mind.
On the other hand, a calm space invites clarity and focus.
Therefore, try clearing things out. Create a space that works for you.
It doesn’t have to be perfect—just peaceful.
